So it’s been nine months since the deviantART llama craze started, and that means llamas are so “last year,” right? Well I’m here to inform you otherwise.
As one of the admins for the biggest llama groups on deviantART, I am in the midst of everything llama, meaning I see a lot. I am going to give you 10 reasons why llamas are still cool.
1) Pageviews. Whether you “care about page views” or not, you have to hand it to the llamas for boosting everyone’s number. Before April 1st, 2010, I was under 4,000 pageviews. Now, I have over 22,000. Those, of course, didn’t come overnight, but the bulk of them came from trading llamas with fellow deviants. Pageviews are sometimes good, because that means there’s a flow of deviants coming to your page and—hopefully—seeing your art.
2) New ways to get your art out there. Have you noticed that after you give out a ton of new llamas that you get a boost in faves, comments, etc? Try it now; give out about 50 llamas, and watch. If your page has an interesting piece of artwork on it, you’re likely to get more faves and comments than you would without giving llamas. This is free adcast, people! Use it!
3) New art that could make your other art more popular. I will be the first to say that I am not an emoticonist, llama-badge artist, stamp artist, etc. I am a writer. But I have made artwork in all those other categories. More specifically, I have made llama-related works in all those categories. And, boy, without those llama related deviations, I don’t know where I’d be. Thanks to llama-related deviations, my lit deviations have enjoyed more views, faves, comments, etc, than ever before. I’m not telling you that you should make llama art in an attempt to get “popular” (trust me, popularity should never be your goal). I’m just telling you that when people find something they like, they tend to look for more things that they’ll like, and this could be your gallery! I will say it again—this is like FREE adCast. USE IT.
4) New ways to branch out. Remember what I just said about not being an emoticonist/llama badge artist/stamp artist as my main trade? That’s true. But, because of my passion for llamas, I took up an interest in other areas of art. I didn’t know how to do many of those things before llamas came along. I decided one day that I wanted to make a llama stamp, and I found a stamp making tutorial and just did it. Now I can add more hats to my rack, and do more types of art, in addition to literature.
5) Community goodwill. Something about being able to give (and get) something to someone for free raises generosity and creates a sense of community. Most people who enjoy getting llamas enjoy giving them as well, which is why llama groups are so successful. These groups foster a love of something, and as a community builds up around it, everyone benefits.
6) New friends. Well if you’re giving and getting llamas, you’re coming into contact with a lot of new people who you might not have had a chance to meet before. I know I have a ton of new friends because of llamas, and I am thankful to have them.
7) Points. Ever been to llamatrade? That’s right. That’s points for llamas—essentially a free way to get points. Granted, it’s not as popular as it once was, but it’s still there, and still a good thing. The points economy gets boosted from llamatrade, and I think more people should participate, whether or not they enjoy getting llamas.
8) Mascot of deviousness. Now, I don’t mean llamas are the mascot of deviantART. That’s fella’s job, and will always be. I’m thinking in a broader sense. Every time I think “llama,” I think “awesomeness,” and “deviantART.” (Which is good for deviantART, because now I’m thinking of their service every time I think of a certain four legged animal). We’re like a secret society, us llama lovers, and the llama is like our bat signal. “Wherever there’s a llama… there’s a deviant trying to trade it.” I don’t know, this may not even be a real reason to persuade you that llamas are still cool, but I still had to put it up there.
9) New scripts. I’m speaking for nuckchorris0 (a script and module developer here on deviantART) on this. Llamas have been amazing as far as scripts go. Clockwork Llama? That’s a great script, and there are many things that we may be able to do because of it. Besides that script, working for the llama rooms has inspired nuck to work on other scripts, and even new bots too! We have Chromacity because the llama mods were upset about dAmn Colors being down a while back, and we thought nuck could code something new for us. In addition, we have a ton of new bot modules because of different chat events that we’ve held for llamas. Also… There might be a new script that Nuck’s working on… Super secret, and super awesome. You’ll just have to watch for it to find out what it is.
10) Parties. Thanks to llamas, GiveALlamaGetALlama has been able to hold many successful parties, and that really helps community spirit grow. The llama team loves holding parties, and we’re glad that we get to do it, because those parties are really fun. We have come up with so many new chat party games and contests, that our parties can last 8 hours, if not longer. That’s a lot of work, but it’s also worth it to see a bunch of deviants happy.
So that’s 10 reasons why llamas are still cool. So go out there and start giving and getting, and have a llama-tastic day!

It's Been Awhile...
/me Dusts off my ol' dA account
Well hello there! It looks like I haven't touched this account in about 3 years or so... It has been quite a busy 3 years. So, where to start...
Still in the Navy! It's been 4 years, and yup, still employed by the GREAT US government (just smile and nod, they're watching us :D). And with 4 years in the Navy, that means I've been married for over 4 years. Yay! We haven't started hating each other yet, so apparently something must be wrong with us. But it's okay :D Currently living out of Washington state, and I love it there! I'm not home right now due to Navy training, but I'm excited to get back! I'm hoping
A Nice Life
During my annual reflection of my life, I'm glad to say that it's been a good year, and I'm fairly happy with the life I'm living right now. Though I will admit that for the most part, I detest my job, the rest of my life is pretty happy. Dave's chugging along in school, we have a nice home, two (for the most part) good dogs, a reliable car, and no debt. We have a lot of nice things, and we've been lucky enough to be able to time the purchases in a way that allowed us to pay for them outright. We don't have a lot of money, but we pay our bills, feed ourselves, and sometimes have enough leftover to treat ourselves. I also got promoted (I'm an
New Life in Washington
For starters, my detour to California took a couple months longer than I expected; I was sent to more school in the middle of nowhere, Lemoore, CA. It sucked. But we've been in Washington for several months now, and it's great. We love it here, at least so far. We ended up getting another dog about a week before we left Florida. She is Pixel, a pointer mix, about a year and a half old, and she's been great for Cyrus.
While we were still in California on vacation, we were able to choose our new home, and instead of getting an apartment or duplex, we ended up with a 3 bedroom house with a yard and garage. We have an office and a guest room, an
I'm coming back! (Soon...)
Hey! Look! I got premium again! That means I must be planning to do things on this place again! Yay!
Yup, it's true. I'm planning my triumphant return... But it'll be after I move.... Move where? To Whidbey Island, Washington, of course! That is where I'm being stationed, and I can't wait! I graduate from this school January 17th, and so I'll be leaving around then. Dave and I plan to take a detour to California to visit the family before we head up to Washington. He's just as excited as I am to get out of this apartment, and into a nicer one. Truth be told, Florida just isn't for us, but we're hoping Washington will be.
We're also planning

I honestly have no idea why the fuck those stupid llamas take the spotlight everywhere. Its stupid, pointless and annoying. Heck, the same is with all the ads.
